FAQs

Do you make cakes with wheat flour?

At the Ivy’s Flavours kitchen, all of our cakes are made gluten free only, which means there is a slice for EVERYONE! (coeliac friendly).

How do I cut the cake and serve it?

At Ivy’s Flavours we base our serving size guide off the traditional serving sizes for wedding cakes. This is when the cake is cut into equal sections and then divided into smaller rectangular portions (checkerboard). This is the best way to maximise the amount of cake you get out of the size you have ordered.

If you have a two tier cake the best way to dissemble the cake is to remove the top tier first. Please be aware of any dowels or wooden sticks that may be in the cakes before you cut it. If you have fresh flowers or any inedible decorations, be sure to remove these from the cake before you start to cut it.

If your cake is being refrigerated prior to your event after delivery, remember to take it out at least one-two hours before the event starts (weather depending). This ensures that the cake is easy to cut and not cold (which can lead to a dryer texture).

We recommend keeping any leftover cake sealed in an airtight container, refrigerated and consumed within 3-4 days. You can also cling wrap it and place it in the freezer to save for a rainy day.

Are the flowers you use real?

Yes!! we just love the vibrant and sensual affect that fresh flowers give to a cake. If you would like fresh flowers on your cake, please notify us during the ordering process as well as the colour and type of flower you would like so the flowers can be purchased (based on seasonal availability).

Please let us know if your chosen florist is providing flowers for us to use for the wedding cake as this requires planning on delivery day.

When should I place my order?

We ask that you place your order as soon as possible. This gives us enough time to ensure that we can lock in your date. Please note, we need at least 1 month notice for all wedding cake orders.

If you want to make any last minute changes to your order, please contact us at least 5 days prior to the occasion. If you need to cancel an order, again, please let us know at least 4 days before the occasion as we may have already started the process. A non-refundable $100 deposit is required for all orders. Please contact for more information.

I’ve seen a design/ flavour I love, can you re-create it??

If you have seen a design that is not shown in our gallery, or a certain flavour that is not listed on our flavours list, we are more than happy to discuss re-creating this for you!  Additional costs may apply depending on decorations and/or ingredients required to meet the expectations of the design/flavour.

Do you make cakes with fondant icing?

Ivy’s flavours does not use fondant icing. Please refer to our flavours list to choose from the recommended icings available.

Are your cakes Nut Free?

Although you can order cakes without nuts, unfortunately the Ivy’s Flavours kitchen is not 100% nut free. Because of this, we highly recommend any anaphylactic people do not consume our cakes as we cannot guarantee the absence of nuts.

DO YOU PROVIDE WEDDING CAKE TASTINGS?

Yes! once your $100 deposit is paid and your date is locked in, we send out a cake tasting box with up to three flavours of your choice from our signature menu. These include tasting pots of all matching fillings and our swiss meringue buttercream.
